Tierney has been in education for over thirty years. She currently teaches World Geography for a nearby college. Besides serving as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab and attending Space Camp for Educators, Tierney has traveled across the world. From the Great Wall of China to floating the Okavango Delta of Botswana, Africa, she ties her unique experiences into her writing projects such as An Unlikely Hero. Living on a Native American reservation and in a mining town for many years fuels the kind of characters she never tires of creating.
Two years ago Tierney’s dear friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. After watching her face chemo and recovery with remarkable strength she wrote a children’s book. Because Tierney’s friend was a school librarian bent on making her changed appearance something the children could celebrate There’s a Superhero in the Library was born. Her second book Zombie Meatloaf is a fun approach to nutrition. “What can be better than superheroes and zombies?” She likes stories that have a message and purpose.
Besides teaching and writing, Tierney enjoys gardening, reading and exploring new places. Other pursuits involve learning Hebrew in preparation for book #3 in the Engima Series she began with An Unlikely Hero. She likes to research and sometimes that has involved learning new skills, like being certified with various weapons.
There’s never a dull moment in Tierney’s life. And that is just the way she likes it.
